The Hostería offers 8 spacious rooms with private bathrooms decorated in a warm and simple style in keeping the desert environment of the Puna. All rooms have windows overlooking the Oasis of El Peñon, known for its high green poplar trees that grow deep in the Andes. All rooms have comfortable mattresses and luxury bedding including thick duvets for cold desert nights.
Electrical supply
Our accommodation has 24-hour electricity, supplied by the town’s engine.
Internet connection
We have free WI FI internet connection available in the main hall. Since the connection is via satellite, sometimes the speed of the connection can be low, due to the position of the satellite, or due to a momentary antenna malfunction. Please be patient.
Hot water
The Hostería has a limited daily hot water supply of 600 lts. (estimate). We kindly ask you to make a moderate use of the water when taking a shower, especially in case of high occupation so that everyone can enjoy a good service. In case of the hotel being fully booked, we recommend you to ask in reception so that you can take a turn and we can ensure you that the hot water is available.
In winter, the extreme low temperature, freezes the water of the tanks, in this case we recommend taking a shower in the late afternoon or at night, when the hot water supply is more abundant due the work of the electrical heaters.
Heating
Salamanders (one for each room) provide the heating of the hotel rooms. The Hotel Staff handles the wood; please do not touch the salamanders. In the coldest weeks of winter, the temperature inside the rooms is of 9/10 degrees Celsius. We provide warm bed ware. In the main hall, a central chimney and a Tromen salamander provide the heating.
Phone service
In this town, there is no connection/antenna for cell phones. The nearest place with signal is Antofagasta de la Sierra (60km) – only for Claro users –
The town hall of El Peñón has one satellite phone for public use (not free) and it is available from 8AM to 1PM and from 6PM to 10PM. The services cost is determined by the minutes consumed.
Restaurant service
Breakfast buffet is served in the main dining room, including some homemade bread or pastries made in the lodge. Prepared on the basis of regional products, there is a dinner menu every day and a good selection of wines.
With previous booking the Restaurant is ready to receive Groups for a special lunch and is also a nice warm place to make a stop on the way and enjoy an special herbal tea with local delicacies or a cold beer with table of cheese.

The box lunch service or lunch to go should be ordered the previous night before 08:00 PM, and it will be ready the next morning.
